Unsettled Journeys at Supples Gallery: A Personal Encounter

Pai Min Htet

I recently stepped into Unsettled Journeys, now showing at Supples Gallery on the ever-electric Charoenkrung Road, and I’m still carrying it with me.

Tucked into this vibrant stretch of Bangkok, Supples has become one of my haunts for fresh, thought-provoking art. This latest exhibition, curated by Mike Thukha Kyaw, features Myanmar artists currently living in Thailand. I visited with a friend, and we both found ourselves quietly moved, not in a heavy way, but in that rare way where beauty carries the weight of truth. The artworks; a mix of paintings, drawings, and quiet visual narratives felt like personal conversations. Each piece seemed to hum with a vibrant personality. Despite the themes of displacement and exile, there was a gentle insistence on hope, on memory, and on the will to keep creating.

Some works offered glimpses of everyday tenderness — a street scene, soft morning light. Others reached deeper, touching on grief and fractured identity. But all of them, in their own way, told stories of resilience.

Unsettled Journeys is more than an exhibition. It’s a witness, an embrace, and a quiet call to listen closely when words are not enough. Open now through July 13. Go, if you can.
